CHANGES: WORLD WAR II
When World War II had begun in 1939, the Japanese drafted many Koreans to become front-line soldiers against their will. In addition, women were put into sexual slavery for the soldiers. They were called "comfort women", and the Japanese soldiers raped them. Furthermore, about one million were drafted to work in the mines, factories, and military bases from 1939-1945 in Japan. The remainder of 242, 341 Koreans were in the Japanese Army of which 22, 182 died. Moreover, 18 Koreans served as Kamikaze pilots where they committed suicide by crashing their planes into opponents'. However, whether it was against their will or not is unknown.
